My 14 yr old Kobe has had arthritis since I adopted him three years ago. We've dealt with it using massage & pain meds. But lately he's having mire problems. A few times now he's just fallen down while standing. He still plays with my mom's year old puppy, he loves his new food ( homemade) and I just think a cart can help him. Advice happily & gladly taken.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

While many dog owners think there older pet is suffering from arthritis or hip dysplasia, most larger, older dogs that need dog wheelchairs and are showing signs of progressive hindleg weakness are suffering from degenerative myelopathy or DM. You can read more about DM on our blog.

If you think your dog will benefit from a cart, we recommend that you obtain measurements of Kobe using our Measuring Hints and Tricks.

You can also call 866-K9-CARTS (866-592-2787) or email k9carts[@]yahoo.com to talk to us directly about Kobe and whether a dog wheelchair is correct for him.

No, no one responded to my post about a used cart for my Kobe. He is having more trouble getting up. I tried putting baby sock with rubberized grips on the bottom on him, but they are too short and kept coming off. Now sometimes he just slides to the ground and stays there. I have to try to pick him up myself. I've asked at vets and pet stores, but no one has been able to help me find a used cart for my Kobe
